swaitsandClaude Opus 5.5 af684c3612 viewer: color schemes, twenty families and every variant, with a light/dark filter
Owner, 2026-10-19: full color-scheme support for the viewer, the top
Neovim-style schemes, about twenty families each with a flyout of all its
variants, a light/dark/all filter, Ayu included, alphabetical, a whole row
to click.

- The sidebar's corner button (the light/dark toggle before) opens the
menu: the filter, then, alphabetically and all on screen at once (in
columns in a short window), Ayu, Catppuccin, Cyberdream, Dracula,
Everforest, GitHub, Gruvbox, Kanagawa, Material, Melange, Monokai Pro,
Night Owl, Nightfox, Nord, One Dark, Oxocarbon, Rosé Pine, Solarized,
Sonokai, Tokyo Night and Wanderbooks (the viewer's own Light and Dark):
80 schemes, each variant a row with a strip of its colors.
- Colors from each scheme's official source, checked value by value
(docs/color-schemes.md; the table names the sources).
- Every palette, the viewer's own included, keeps every text color
(figures, gains and losses, warnings, links, secondary and faint text)
at WCAG AA (4.5:1) on every ground it sits on, soft fills included; a
color that falls short keeps its hue and only changes lightness. Text,
secondary and faint text stay apart (each 1.2 times the next), gains,
losses and text and the charts' series shown together stay plainly
  different (CIE76 ΔE 20).
- The scheme sets both egui styles and pins its mode, so the system
turning light or dark changes nothing (it made figures unreadable).
- Preferences now live in the platform's place for app settings
($XDG_CONFIG_HOME/wanderbooks-viewer on Linux), not eframe's default,
which was $XDG_DATA_HOME/wanderbooks: the data root's own place. The
  old file is moved once.
- Tests: every page of thirteen painted in all 80 schemes, the same words
  in the same places, each text readable on what was painted under it;
the menu's order, reach and whole-row clicks in a tall and a short
window; the system flip; preferences restored. Two review rounds.

swaitsandClaude Opus 5.5 149d108126 Viewer: clickable breadcrumbs
Every crumb above the page you're on links to where it names: the
section goes to its home (Parties › Tobin Harlow → Parties), and a
reconciliation's trail runs Accounts › its account › it. Same look; a
pointer and "Go to …" on hover. A crumb naming the current page isn't a
link.

swaitsandClaude Opus 5.5 08ce558ed3 Attachments, statements, reconciliations, TIN vault, counterparty policy
MCP: books.link_attachment, unlink_attachment, attachments; link_to on
attach_receipt and file_document; record_statement, statements;
books.reconcile previews and, confirmed against a recorded statement,
records the reconciliation; void_reconciliation, reconciliations;
import_bank_csv links its source file; digest lists unreconciled
accounts.

TIN vault: books.set_w9 takes the TIN and the form into the encrypted
vault (last four in the books); books.vendor_1099 include_tins and
save_csv_to for the CPA's copy; books.get_w9; books.purge_tin. A leak
test scans every tool output, the journal, the database, and the blobs.

[books] parties = off | suggest | require (default suggest): every
preview names the entry's party or suggests likely ones; require refuses
to post until it names one or is marked as having none (entry.no_party).

Viewer: documents on every subject page; statements and reconciliation
history per account; reconciliation pages; reconcile and
no-counterparty attention items; party money by period (paid out,
received in, net, what for, by month); Needs attention gets its own
full-width section.

swaitsandClaude Opus 5.5 a299077991 Parties, attachment links, statements, reconciliations (store), TIN vault crate
Parties: one directory for vendors, contractors, customers, employees,
members, platforms, agencies, banks, landlords (ledger-core parties.rs).
W-9/W-4 facts without the number (last four only; any nine-digit run in a
party field is refused, Treas. Reg. 301.6109-4). Vendor and customer
records link to parties on replay; core tags every bill, invoice, payment,
and reversal with its counterparty. Journal events party.*,
entry.party_set; payroll lines name the employee party.

MCP: books.add_party, update_party, set_party_roles, set_w9, set_w4,
parties, party, set_entry_party; draft_entry party; run_payroll employee;
show party. Viewer: Parties directory and party pages, search, journal
text, W-9 attention, demo data.

One definition of a party's money (ledger_core::parties::activity) for
MCP and viewer. 1099 amounts count payments from cash and financing
accounts (a member paying for the company counts; a card doesn't; a
prepayment counts when made): vendor_1099_report_with, B-19.

Store: attachment links to any subject, statements, reconciliations
(schema v11), with replay and projection. ledger-vault: encrypted TIN and
W-9 records (ChaCha20-Poly1305, key file outside the books).

Spec-blind tests for parties (core, store, MCP, viewer) and attachments.

swaitsandClaude Opus 5.5 cd085108c1 Fixed assets, fully featured: tags, serials, acquisition links, label sheets, the fixed asset register, and an Assets section in the viewer; fix a flaky verify
- core: asset tags (generated PREFIX-0001 or the human's own; unique ignoring case; never reused by another asset) and serial numbers (rules.md B-24); a journaled link from an asset to the entry that acquired it (posted, unreversed, debiting the cost account); fixed_asset_register(as_of), reconciled to the GL (unposted depreciation, unregistered cost)
- store: asset.tagged, asset.serial_set, asset.acquisition_linked journaled, replayed, projected (schema v9); differs_from now also compares control roles and tag history
- config: [books] asset_tag_prefix, default the company's initials without legal-form words
- import: Avery 5160/8160 label sheets with QR codes (geometry vendored from Avery, docs/spec/sources/avery-5160.md); the register as XLSX and PDF
- mcp: register_asset tags (and links) automatically; books.label_asset, books.asset_labels; asset tools take a tag; books.show asset / assets page / register report; export fixed_asset_register (json, csv, xlsx, pdf) and in the CPA package
- viewer: Assets page (register, reconciliation), asset page (identity, schedule posted vs not, entries, documents), Fixed asset register report, global search by tag/serial/description, journal text, needs-attention items
- fix: verify compared snapshot amounts as strings; a zero total summed in hash-map order could print "0" or "0.00", so agreeing books failed verify at random. Now by value (regression test)
- tests: spec-blind suites for tags, register, prefix, store, MCP; label and register PDF/XLSX tests; viewer tests

swaitsandClaude Opus 5.5 afd427a023 viewer: click to copy values, amounts, and identifiers
Company details (EIN, state number, address, every profile value), an
entry's number and amount, an account's code and balance, a document's
file name and SHA-256 copy on click: a pointer and copy icon on hover,
a check for a moment after. Amounts copy as their exact plain decimal
(fmt::plain: no "$", commas, or parentheses; "-" for negatives); where a
click already drills down (report cells, register and transaction rows,
general ledger lines), a right-click menu copies the amounts, the entry
number, or the description. The sidebar's chain check copies the
journal head and data folder.

tests/copy.rs: every display style copies back to the exact value
(property), and clicking the EIN, an entry's amount, and its number puts
exactly that on the clipboard.

swaitsandClaude Opus 5.5 ad80171ba2 viewer: no false "database differs" while the books are being written
New concurrency test: one thread writes entries, drafts and receipts as
fast as it can while a Snapshot (the viewer) refreshes in a loop. At
every refresh the snapshot's books must balance, never go backward, and
never see the writer's database as differing from the journal; at the
end it must equal the writer in full. It failed 30 runs in 50:
check_disk read the applied position and the tables in separate
statements, so a write landing between them made a consistent database
look like it "differs", which the viewer shows as a problem in Needs
attention.

- check_disk reads in one read transaction (one consistent view).
- A database that has applied lines the viewer hasn't read yet is now
DiskCheck::Ahead ("viewer catching up"), not Behind.
- Without the transaction the test fails 14 runs in 20; with it, 50/50.

Also: members' equity spec 3b states the exact bound (a member's period
income is within two cents of their share, one cent of rounding at each
end; the running balance chains exactly), and the spec-blind property
checks that bound. docs/testing.md gains the concurrency layer and item
12: each close into members' capital still rounds on its own (pending).

swaitsandClaude Opus 5.5 b582d3d8a0 gui: Save PDF on every report; short and narrow windows hold up
Reports get a Save PDF button beside Copy for a spreadsheet. It typesets
the report as it's set up on screen (range, months/quarters/years,
comparison) through ledger-import's Typst statement template, the same
one the CPA package uses, in the background, writes it to the Downloads
folder (never the books: the viewer stays read-only), and opens it.

- ledger-import: Statement.percent_from marks percentage columns
  (comparison %, % of income), typeset as 12.5% with no dollar sign;
wide statements turn the page, and past seven columns set smaller so
a year of months fits; statement() is public for other callers.
- Compared columns that read the same (Jan 1 - Oct 12 vs a year
earlier) now say which year, on screen and on paper.
- Short windows: the sidebar's and rail's links scroll above the status
box instead of under it. The search palette fits the window.
- A test typesets every table-backed report from the demo books,
plain, by month, and compared (PDF_DIR keeps the files).

swaitsandClaude Opus 5.5 6fb594ed28 gui: every screen lays itself out to fit, down to a 360-point tiling slot
Narrow windows overlapped and clipped: the top bar's crumb, date, and
search ran into each other; big numbers wrapped mid-figure; tables
painted columns over each other; the entry and document panes squeezed
their lists to slivers; anything too wide widened the whole page.

- Below 1000 points the sidebar becomes an icon rail (names, attention,
  and integrity checks in tooltips).
- The top bar lays out right to left: search shrinks to its icon, the
  date drops, the crumb truncates.
- Pages are pinned to the window width with narrower margins when tight,
so one wide thing can't push everything off screen.
- Tiles (KPIs, cash accounts, documents) fit as many columns as the
width allows, balanced across rows; KPI figures shrink rather than wrap.
- Painted tables shrink their amount columns, clip labels with an
ellipsis, then scroll sideways rather than overlap.
- List/detail splits show only the detail when both won't fit.
- Reports: the side list becomes a picker; controls wrap by known width.
- Smaller fixes: chart labels thin out, company facts stack, journal
timestamps yield, transaction filters become a dropdown.
- Min window size drops to 360x400; the screenshot test covers every
report, a register, a document, and a journal event.

swaitsandClaude Opus 5.5 c16899f5d6 feat: books.show — the agent puts things on the viewer's screen
books.show asks the viewer to open an entry, an account register, a
report (dates, month/quarter/year columns, prior-period or prior-year
comparison), a document, a search, or a page. The request lives outside
the books (runtime dir, keyed by data dir, written atomically); the
viewer watches it beside the journal and applies books before
navigating. 66 tools.

Site: the dashboard is the hero again; 'Here's what using it looks like'
shows the session beside the viewer, ending in books.show; the cash page
replaces the repeated overview lower down.

swaitsandClaude Opus 5.5 061d433f88 feat: the CPA package carries the evidence; the site answers 'why not QuickBooks?'
CPA package: every receipt behind the period's entries with an index,
company documents, the journal as IIF, the 1099 worksheet, and a README;
include_receipts=false for a light package. The scaffolded AGENTS.md
covers receipts from email, switching from QuickBooks/Xero/spreadsheets,
and working with the CPA. GUI: a books copy without a server database
reads 'Read-only copy'. Site: example prompts, QuickBooks comparison,
what it does and doesn't do yet, the CPA section, FAQ.

swaitsandClaude Opus 5.5 2a976e68a2 feat: end-to-end integrity checks with self-healing; website; installer and Windows fixes
Store::verify compares the whole SQLite projection, every table row for
row, against a fresh projection of the journal; verify_and_heal rebuilds a
drifted database (keeping the old file) at every server start and via the
new books.verify tool, which also re-hashes every blob. The GUI checks the
server's database read-only and every stored file, and shows the result.
rebuild() also drops stale WAL/SHM files.

site/: the wanderbooks website (just site, just publish). install.sh:
OS detection (Windows points to WSL2), C compiler and git checks,
WANDERBOOKS_REPO. Windows: no directory fsync off Unix; .exe-aware lookup.
Repo justfile: check, build, install, demo, site.

egui/wgpu app for owners and their accountant: Overview, Cash, Profit,
Transactions (with rendered receipts and journal history), Reports
(statements with interval columns, comparisons, drill-down), Accounts,
Documents, Company, Journal; Ctrl+K palette; back/forward; light/dark.
Follows the journal live (~30 ms from write to screen). --demo opens a
deterministic demo company, also used for screenshot tests.

Engine: ledger-store Snapshot (read-only, incremental, tolerant of a
half-written tail); ledger-core analysis (intervals, balance series,
P&L by interval, cash flows); ledger-config extracted from ledger-mcp
with the full company profile and cash_accounts.
