bookspec/ (spec, examples, checker, runner, Lean, GnuCash adapter) moves to
https://git.swaits.com/swaits/bookspec, history kept by git subtree split
(public home; CC BY 4.0 for spec/ and examples/, MIT OR Apache-2.0 for the
code). ledger-core and ledger-package depend on bookspec-checker and
bookspec-runner as git dev-dependencies pinned to
74f2853d5f0db0066147c17fed8033cfe3d83a24, and read the examples through
bookspec_checker::examples(). just check still runs every example via
cargo test --workspace. The pin check against docs/spec/sources and the
rules.md id check move into tests/bookspec.rs (they need this repository's
files). The accounting is unchanged: no example or rule moved.

bookspec is a specification first: every rule normative and sourced,
every rule demonstrated by concrete examples, and any accounting engine
checked against them through one interface (D-34). This moves the
examples' schema out of the test that happened to parse them and makes
the interface explicit.
- `bookspec/checker` (its own workspace, inside this repository until
the harness is stable): `Example`, `Setup`, `Event`, `Expect`, `Query`,
`Refusal` and the TOML parser, every structure `deny_unknown_fields`,
with `Example::from_toml` checking the cross-field shape (closed lists,
exact decimal amounts, dates, one event kind, `reverses` counting from
1, the shares summing to 1, commands accepted or refused and not both).
- `Engine` (`load`, `apply`, `query`, `claims`) and `Refusal { rule,
reason }`; the refusal's rule is the bookspec identifier, so a refusal
names the rule it belongs to. `Claims` also carries the option an
engine picks for a CHOICE rule.
- `bookspec/runner` drives any `Engine` through the examples and reports
per rule: pass, fail, not claimed. It compares the answer itself; an
engine is never asked whether it agrees with itself.
- `crates/ledger-core/tests/bookspec.rs` is the wanderbooks adapter over
`Store`: the loader parses through the checker, its own checks are
unchanged, and the new `the_runner_reports_every_claimed_rule_green`
runs all 56 examples through the trait. The IIF appendix is answered
through `ledger_package::export_iif`, the code its own test checks.
- `just check` runs the bookspec workspace's fmt, clippy, rustdoc and
tests too, so an example cannot rot (D-34, Z-17).
The plan's trait has four methods and no path for an example's
`[[changes]]` (a rename, the policy, an asset correction), which post no
entry: `change` is the fifth, required so an engine cannot skip those
examples silently. This is reported to the EM as the one departure.
One money rule holds here too: an answer's figures are exact decimal
strings, never JSON numbers, so no engine can round a cent through a
float.
report_to_xlsx gains INVARIANTS 4-6 (header block, right-aligned amount
headings, spacer and account spacing, footer one empty row down, rules
exactly where rule_above says, exact text grouped in threes), tested by
reading the workbook's styles, merges and column widths. The general
ledger's footer now sits one empty row down like the other sheets.
Also killed: IIF transliteration arms, tax summary's optional sections,
and day-equals-month bank dates. `just mutants-import`, weekly in CI.

`just mutants-store` (64 random cases per mutant, temp books on a RAM
disk in CI) runs beside the core's weekly; fuzz_store_replay joins the
weekly fuzz matrix. docs/testing.md lists the spec-blind store suite,
the refusal property's converse law, and the replay fuzz oracles.

Store::verify compares the whole SQLite projection, every table row for
row, against a fresh projection of the journal; verify_and_heal rebuilds a
drifted database (keeping the old file) at every server start and via the
new books.verify tool, which also re-hashes every blob. The GUI checks the
server's database read-only and every stored file, and shows the result.
rebuild() also drops stale WAL/SHM files.
site/: the wanderbooks website (just site, just publish). install.sh:
OS detection (Windows points to WSL2), C compiler and git checks,
WANDERBOOKS_REPO. Windows: no directory fsync off Unix; .exe-aware lookup.
Repo justfile: check, build, install, demo, site.
