swaitsandClaude Opus 5.5 b7b7f17163 feat(viewer): Invoices & Bills, a document's page, overview tiles (P4b S2)
check / check (push) Canceled after 0s
One sidebar item, Invoices & Bills (the owner's choice, 2026-10-24),
with Money in (invoices) and Money out (bills) tabs: what is owed and
overdue, and the list tied to its receivables or payables account
(Agrees, or what to look at); filters Open, Overdue, Paid, Void, All;
rows by due date, an overdue one saying how many days late, each named
in full for assistive tech. A document's page: total, received or paid,
still owed, status; its lines with their projects; its timeline, a
payment later reversed marked so, each row opening its entry. The
overview adds Owed to you and You owe on bills once the books have
documents. Every figure is the document's derived state (rules.md B-38).
The sidebar's rows (and the rail's) give way to 22 points, not 24, so
13 links still fit the owner's 1479x519 window unscrolled; the
sidebar's tests compute heights from the link count; the 1440x920
golden is re-blessed for the new link.

swaitsandClaude Opus 5.5 a9de57d6cd feat(viewer): thumbnails drawn at load, kept on disk by hash; no picture crashes it
check / check (push) Canceled after 0s
Tiles draw a thumbnail, not the file: the top of the first page, 560
pixels wide (never scaled up) and at most 420 tall, rendered by two
workers of their own so opening a file never waits behind them. Every
file's thumbnail starts when the books load, before the documents page
is opened, and the live viewer keeps each as <sha>.png in
$XDG_CACHE_HOME (else ~/.cache)/wanderbooks/thumbs/v1-560 (private to
the user, written whole and renamed into place), so the next launch
reads small PNGs, not PDFs. A file's name is its content's hash, so a
thumbnail always matches the file the books hold; the blob is still read
through the verifying store each time, so a corrupt or missing file is
an error, never a kept picture.

From review: a picture or page past the device's largest texture is
scaled to fit (egui panicked on it, in the full view too); a renderer
panic is that file's error, not the end of its worker; a thumbnail asked
for before the cache moved is dropped, never shown over a newer one;
text thumbnails keep 2 KiB.

swaitsandClaude Opus 5.5 641184d3a3 viewer: the sidebar's links fit short windows
check / check (push) Canceled after 0s
The owner's viewer at 1479x519 (scale 1) showed Overview through half of
Accounts above the status card; Assets, Parties, Projects, Documents,
Company and Journal sat in a scroll area with no sign that it scrolled,
so the links seemed to go behind the status box.

The sidebar now gives way in steps, each only when the one before is not
enough, so a window where everything fit looks exactly as it did
(pixel-checked against main at 1440x920, tests/goldens):

1. The status card folds to its one summary line, "● Live · event 559 ·
✓ verified". Hovering it shows the three checks; right-click keeps the
card's copy menu. The line is the fullest wording that fits the card
(summaries), never cut off: a failed check is named ("⊘ Database
differs", "⊘ 2 files damaged") before the event and the word "Live"
are kept, and only then shortened to a count. Whatever the line
   leaves out, its tooltip says.
2. The rows tighten: the footer's menus, the gap under the header, the
spacing between links, then the rows' height, down to 24 points, in
the same font. The rail tightens the same way, also to 24 points.
3. Only then do the links scroll, with a soft fade and a chevron at each
clipped edge (the rail's chevron sits centred on its own pill, clear
of the icons), and the current page's link is scrolled into view
   whenever the page changes.

Links that overrun their room by under half a pixel count as fitting, so
the card folds where main's links began to lose a visible sliver, not a
point sooner at fractional scales.

At 1479x519 and scale 1 all twelve links show unscrolled in the sidebar,
and at 900x519 in the rail, in every footer state (Live, Snapshot, each
database state, damaged files, no Books menu).

Tests (tests/sidenav.rs, fixture books with a footer like the live one):
every height from 300 to 920 px at scales 1, 1.25, 1.5 and 2, sidebar and
rail, for each footer state: no link under the footer, links cut off only
when they scroll, and nothing scrolls from 519 px up at scale 1; the
owner's window in sidebar and rail; the folded line fits its card and
names a failed check, its tooltip the three checks; the scroll cue and
scrolling to the current link; the tall sidebar unchanged. Unit tests for
fit, its order of steps, the footer's memo and the folded line's
wordings.

check / check (push) Canceled after 0s
A project is a class with facts (description, status, kind, party,
dates, links, notes) in one project.set event behind the format
feature projects. Four tools (books.add_project, update_project,
projects, project); documents and decisions link to projects; B-37:
on-spec costs are expensed as incurred, repayment is revenue, and the
unrecovered cost is never below zero (Kani). Viewer: a Projects list
and a project page with its figures, by month and by account. The
sidebar measures its footer instead of reserving a fixed 172 px.

swaitsandClaude Opus 5.5 3a9aa92315 P3: the books' format moves only with the owner's go-ahead (D-39)
Books an update could write a newer format for open on their old format
and are asked at every open; anything needing a new feature is refused
until the owner agrees with the passphrase, after a verified backup that
includes the keys. New books start on the current format. Each projection
schema has its own database file, so an older version still opens the
books until the owner agrees.

books.rename_account; account names trimmed, bounded, refused when a
sibling's or TIN-shaped; books.show refuses what its target ignores. A

(one rule for tools, descriptions and the viewer; the IIF and CPA package
keep their own dates). policy.require_tax_category warns or refuses; a
Form 4797 gain is shown apart on every return.

No Landlock, no seccomp, no helper: isolation is "same_user

consent). The viewer holds the books open while it runs and gains a
Books menu: New books, Back up now, Restore (preview, then confirm),
Close, Connect Claude Code / Codex. New commands `wanderbooks books
back-up` and `wanderbooks connect claude|codex`. The scaffold
(`new`/`init` and its templates) is gone; install.sh needs no sudo.

Owner, 2026-10-19: hovering a scheme for a moment switches to it live;
moving off goes to the next one hovered or back to the one in force, to
sample schemes without re-opening the menu.

A variant's row rested on for 50 ms is worn; off every row for 50 ms,
the scheme in force again; the menu closed without a click, the one in
force at once. Only a click chooses, and a preview is never kept.
Tested with frames 10 ms apart.

swaitsandClaude Opus 5.5 af684c3612 viewer: color schemes, twenty families and every variant, with a light/dark filter
Owner, 2026-10-19: full color-scheme support for the viewer, the top
Neovim-style schemes, about twenty families each with a flyout of all its
variants, a light/dark/all filter, Ayu included, alphabetical, a whole row
to click.

- The sidebar's corner button (the light/dark toggle before) opens the
menu: the filter, then, alphabetically and all on screen at once (in
columns in a short window), Ayu, Catppuccin, Cyberdream, Dracula,
Everforest, GitHub, Gruvbox, Kanagawa, Material, Melange, Monokai Pro,
Night Owl, Nightfox, Nord, One Dark, Oxocarbon, Rosé Pine, Solarized,
Sonokai, Tokyo Night and Wanderbooks (the viewer's own Light and Dark):
80 schemes, each variant a row with a strip of its colors.
- Colors from each scheme's official source, checked value by value
(docs/color-schemes.md; the table names the sources).
- Every palette, the viewer's own included, keeps every text color
(figures, gains and losses, warnings, links, secondary and faint text)
at WCAG AA (4.5:1) on every ground it sits on, soft fills included; a
color that falls short keeps its hue and only changes lightness. Text,
secondary and faint text stay apart (each 1.2 times the next), gains,
losses and text and the charts' series shown together stay plainly
  different (CIE76 ΔE 20).
- The scheme sets both egui styles and pins its mode, so the system
turning light or dark changes nothing (it made figures unreadable).
- Preferences now live in the platform's place for app settings
($XDG_CONFIG_HOME/wanderbooks-viewer on Linux), not eframe's default,
which was $XDG_DATA_HOME/wanderbooks: the data root's own place. The
  old file is moved once.
- Tests: every page of thirteen painted in all 80 schemes, the same words
  in the same places, each text readable on what was painted under it;
the menu's order, reach and whole-row clicks in a tall and a short
window; the system flip; preferences restored. Two review rounds.

- viewer: Assets page (register, reconciliation), asset page (identity, schedule posted vs not, entries, documents), Fixed asset register report, global search by tag/serial/description, journal text, needs-attention items
- fix: verify compared snapshot amounts as strings; a zero total summed in hash-map order could print "0" or "0.00", so agreeing books failed verify at random. Now by value (regression test)

Company details (EIN, state number, address, every profile value), an
entry's number and amount, an account's code and balance, a document's
file name and SHA-256 copy on click: a pointer and copy icon on hover,
a check for a moment after. Amounts copy as their exact plain decimal
(fmt::plain: no "$", commas, or parentheses; "-" for negatives); where a
click already drills down (report cells, register and transaction rows,
general ledger lines), a right-click menu copies the amounts, the entry
number, or the description. The sidebar's chain check copies the
journal head and data folder.

tests/copy.rs: every display style copies back to the exact value
(property), and clicking the EIN, an entry's amount, and its number puts
exactly that on the clipboard.

swaitsandClaude Opus 5.5 ad80171ba2 viewer: no false "database differs" while the books are being written
New concurrency test: one thread writes entries, drafts and receipts as
fast as it can while a Snapshot (the viewer) refreshes in a loop. At
every refresh the snapshot's books must balance, never go backward, and
never see the writer's database as differing from the journal; at the
end it must equal the writer in full. It failed 30 runs in 50:
check_disk read the applied position and the tables in separate
statements, so a write landing between them made a consistent database
look like it "differs", which the viewer shows as a problem in Needs
attention.

- check_disk reads in one read transaction (one consistent view).
- A database that has applied lines the viewer hasn't read yet is now
DiskCheck::Ahead ("viewer catching up"), not Behind.
- Without the transaction the test fails 14 runs in 20; with it, 50/50.

Also: members' equity spec 3b states the exact bound (a member's period
income is within two cents of their share, one cent of rounding at each
end; the running balance chains exactly), and the spec-blind property
checks that bound. docs/testing.md gains the concurrency layer and item
12: each close into members' capital still rounds on its own (pending).

Reports get a Save PDF button beside Copy for a spreadsheet. It typesets
the report as it's set up on screen (range, months/quarters/years,
comparison) through ledger-import's Typst statement template, the same
one the CPA package uses, in the background, writes it to the Downloads
folder (never the books: the viewer stays read-only), and opens it.

- ledger-import: Statement.percent_from marks percentage columns
  (comparison %, % of income), typeset as 12.5% with no dollar sign;
wide statements turn the page, and past seven columns set smaller so
a year of months fits; statement() is public for other callers.
- Compared columns that read the same (Jan 1 - Oct 12 vs a year
earlier) now say which year, on screen and on paper.
- Short windows: the sidebar's and rail's links scroll above the status
box instead of under it. The search palette fits the window.
- A test typesets every table-backed report from the demo books,
plain, by month, and compared (PDF_DIR keeps the files).

swaitsandClaude Opus 5.5 6fb594ed28 gui: every screen lays itself out to fit, down to a 360-point tiling slot
Narrow windows overlapped and clipped: the top bar's crumb, date, and
search ran into each other; big numbers wrapped mid-figure; tables
painted columns over each other; the entry and document panes squeezed
their lists to slivers; anything too wide widened the whole page.

- Below 1000 points the sidebar becomes an icon rail (names, attention,
  and integrity checks in tooltips).
- The top bar lays out right to left: search shrinks to its icon, the
  date drops, the crumb truncates.
- Pages are pinned to the window width with narrower margins when tight,
so one wide thing can't push everything off screen.
- Tiles (KPIs, cash accounts, documents) fit as many columns as the
width allows, balanced across rows; KPI figures shrink rather than wrap.
- Painted tables shrink their amount columns, clip labels with an
ellipsis, then scroll sideways rather than overlap.
- List/detail splits show only the detail when both won't fit.
- Reports: the side list becomes a picker; controls wrap by known width.
- Smaller fixes: chart labels thin out, company facts stack, journal
timestamps yield, transaction filters become a dropdown.
- Min window size drops to 360x400; the screenshot test covers every
report, a register, a document, and a journal event.
